More questions
Do I need any previous experience to start?
No. Most of our students have never touched an airplane before their first flight. You need to be sixteen to solo, hold a driver’s licence, and want to fly it yourself.
What happens on a Discovery Flight in a Cirrus?
You fly the SR yourself, with an instructor beside you the whole time. About an hour, the controls are yours in the air, and it counts toward your certificate. It is the first lesson, whether the goal is a certificate or an airplane of your own.
Is it safe?
Yes. Every Cirrus carries CAPS, a parachute for the whole airplane, and your instructor has a full set of controls. We cancel for weather without apology. Our airplanes are maintained in our own hangar by factory-trained technicians.
How much does it cost to earn a Private Pilot Certificate in a Cirrus?
Most owner-pilots finish the private certificate between $28,000 and $34,000 in the SR20, including the airplane, the instructor and the online ground school. We quote it plainly on the pricing page.
How long does it take — and can it fit around work?
Three to six months is typical at two or three flights a week, and it fits around a business because the ground work is done online and the lessons are scheduled around you. We schedule around your calendar, early mornings and weekends included.
Do I need a medical certificate?
Yes, before you solo: a third-class medical from an aviation medical examiner, usually a one-hour visit. We will point you to one nearby.

Why learn to fly in a Cirrus instead of a basic trainer?
Because it is the airplane you will fly afterwards. Every hour in the SR is an hour in type: the parachute, the panel and the procedures are already yours on the day you own one. It costs more per hour than a basic trainer, and nobody here pretends otherwise.
How do I get started?
Book a Discovery Flight. It is a real first lesson in the Cirrus with an instructor beside you, it counts toward your certificate, and it tells you in an hour whether this is for you.
